Cupping therapy is performed on an empty stomach; approximately 3 hours before, food and drink are ceased. Cupping performed on a full stomach can cause various illnesses.

The reason for performing cupping on an empty stomach is that, in this state, the levels of total fat, glucose, and other harmful substances in the blood are lower. In such cases, the heart, liver, and kidneys are more active. The body has approximately 6-7 liters of blood, but after eating, around 3-4 liters are directed to the digestive process. In this state, it becomes difficult to cleanse toxic substances through cupping due to a decrease in blood pressure and slower blood circulation. It can even become harmful.

When the stomach is full, blood pools in the abdominal cavity, weakening the nourishment of vital centers like the brain and heart. If cupping is performed under such conditions, the blood volume reaching the brain, heart, and other vital hormone and enzyme-producing glands decreases significantly, leading to permanent conditions like stroke or heart attack.

No animal-derived food should be consumed at least 24 hours beforehand.

Since animal-derived foods contain protein, they thicken the blood. Cupping performed with attention to an animal-product-free diet is more beneficial.

If a small amount of animal food, like a slice of cheese or a bite of meat, is consumed unintentionally, it's not an issue. Consuming a mixture of one tablespoon of olive oil and vinegar can neutralize the effect of animal food. What should be considered before and after cupping?
It is recommended to abstain from sexual activity for at least 24 hours beforehand.

While sexual activity reduces stress, it also slows blood circulation. If blood circulation is weak, the desired benefits from cupping cannot be achieved. Therefore, avoiding sexual activity before cupping is better.

After Cupping

Nothing should be eaten for at least two hours. Appetite may increase slightly after cupping. Spending the day with light foods as much as possible enhances the benefits of cupping.

Is it okay to bathe after cupping?

Hadith No. 3801 states that the Prophet would perform a full ablution for four things: "Janabah (ritual impurity), Friday, cupping, and washing the deceased."

Dear friends, as seen in the Hadith, performing a full ablution after cupping is one of its Sunnahs.

Based on this Hadith, we have recommended to the thousands of patients we treated with cupping therapy to bathe 2-3 hours after the procedure, and we have not encountered any negative results. The water used for bathing is the same as the water we drink. The water should simply be clean.

Since metabolism is reorganized after cupping and blocked vessels are opened, an increase in sweating may be observed. This sweating should not be considered a sign of illness. On the contrary, it is one of the purification methods that cleanse our body. Generally, an increase in appetite may be observed after the first session of cupping, while a decrease may be seen after the second session.

The reason for feeling full quickly is an increase in the sensory quality of the satiety center in your brain. Significant improvements in symptoms of anxiety disorder, stress disorder, and depression are observed in individuals after cupping.

Some people may experience a low-grade fever increase for a short time after cupping. This is not a fever due to an infection. Another observed effect of cupping therapy is frequent urination for a few days. This is noted in sources as being due to the expulsion of toxins and edema from the body. Another noticeable change after cupping is a significant reduction in body odor and, in some cases, its complete elimination. Additionally, improvements and brightness in skin color are observed after cupping.

Abstaining from sexual activity for 48 hours increases the benefits of cupping.

Drinking vinegar water or honey syrup after cupping is very beneficial. Both foods have the common property of being vascular openers.

Almost all animal-derived foods contain protein, which slows blood circulation. Therefore, an animal-product-free diet is followed for at least 24 hours, preferably 48 or 72 hours before cupping.
